My genius hour project is going very good. I have learned so much more. Sometimes it’s frustrating because you have to really concentrate and be focused other wise if your distracted you lose interest and stop practicing, that’s what happened to me a couple of times. I have went through the whole piece of music with so much help especially watching videos on You Tube that's how me how the song should sound and the fingering that I am supposed to use so when I play it is less difficult. I can go through the song but only very slowly because that is how my sister told me to   practice so I can later play faster and faster as I go on

To continue my genius hour, I think I have accomplished lots. I’ve learned the basics already, it took me a while and a lot of practice some of the basics I had to learn were the scales, chords, finger placements and letter naming. My sister who is in grade six piano has helped me a lot, everyday I’m at the piano practicing for at least half an hour. I’ve completed almost a full page of music but playing at my own pace (which is very slowly), even though i have three more pages of music to go through.

Now I'm going to think about videotaping my progress in the last three or four weeks. I was thinking about picking one classical song that I’ve always wanted to play. I'm going to think about starting my video taping maybe playing Fur Elise.

For my genius hour I chose this subject; learn how to play the piano. I thought of this because my sibling plays and I never really got the chance to learn. I’ve always wanted to play the piano because I think piano is a very beautiful instrument. So far this week I’ve been looking up videos on YouTube like How to play piano: The basics, Piano Lesson #1. This video kind of helped because it talks about notes and chords which are really important. Also ever since I chose my project I have been practicing every day for half an hour. I’m trying to build up my skill to play a very well-known classical song “Fur Elise” or I might choose another song. After this experience I hope to gain skill and hopefully later on I’ll continue to learn.by practicing really hard every day my hands maneuver better and quicker. My plan next is to maybe look up more videos or have my sister help me on a song that I’m trying to start on. But I’m still going to have to learn more basic steps to help me with the song.

Do Schools Kill Creativity

For the most part that really depends on the school, the teachers, the parents, and on the individual.
Personally though, i don't think so,
School can spark so many ideas and really depends if you are motivated and on how you want to use your time at school.
Yes some teachers can be a little boring and just make you do worksheets all day
but then most teachers try to get you involved by coming up a different way of thinking.
School's are just tools of information and  getting people prepared for the future and trying to help
kids to think of creative ideas of what they want to be when they grow up. When we are taught
knowledge from school it helps us think of more possibilities
of things we didn't know from when we started school in kindergarten. That is just my point of view on the idea of school's killing creativity.
